An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Who hasn't heard that expression at some time in their lives? Or, "A stitch in time saves nine." Either way, these expressions remind us that tackling minor bumps along life's way can very often save us all big headaches at a later date. Madison College Counseling Services has such a philosophy--don't wait until trouble strikes in the form of increased academic stressors or poor academic performance.
Madison College counselors provide a range of individual and group student success services to help you get back and stay on course in your academic pursuits. Some of the topics that can be discussed in individual and group formats include effective study strategies, improved test taking, self-motivation, effective life management skills, textbook reading, note taking and overcoming test anxiety. Counseling staff also conduct workshops for faculty, peer advisors and student groups on study skills, learning styles, and other related issues.
