Academic Fitness Program

The Academic Fitness Program, also called the AFP, is a program designed for Madison College students on financial aid suspension who are pursuing reinstatement. On the Reinstatement Request forms, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the AFP. However, agreeing to the program requirements is not grounds for automatic reinstatement. If financial aid is not reinstated, you are responsible for all tuition and fees.

If reinstated on an AFP, you are responsible for meeting the requirements of the AFP each semester until you meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Standards. Requirements of the AFP for each semester include:

  1. Complete all scheduled classes (no final grades of F, W, or I);

  2. Achieve at least a 2.0 GPA each semester; and

  3. Complete the Instructor Progress Reports by the required due date.

The Instructor Progress Reports should be completed a quarter of the way through your class (4 to 6 weeks for a 16 week class or 2 to 3 weeks for an 8 week class). To complete the Instructor Progress Reports you may:

You are responsible for submitting all of your Reinstatement Request and AFP documentation to the Financial Aid Office by the following deadlines:

  • Fall semester – third Monday in November

  • Spring semester – third Monday in April

  • Summer semester – third Monday of the semester. Note that Summer semester Progress Reports are due by the fifth Monday of the semester.

The Financial Aid Office will evaluate your progress at the conclusion of the semester to verify that you have completed the requirements of the AFP. If these requirements are not met, your SAP Status will return to Not Meet and you will be ineligible for financial aid.
