Students are expected to make satisfactory progress in their course of study.
The Madison Area Technical College District Board has several policies under which a student may be placed on academic probation, suspended or dismissed from the college:
Academic Probation: A student is placed on academic probation if less than a 2.0 (C) grade point average is achieved at the end of a semester of enrollment. Academic Improvement Plan (PDF, 1.9MB)
A student admitted to the college on probationary status may be dismissed from a program if less than a 2.0 (C) grade point average is achieved at the end of the first semester of enrollment. Dismissed students may not enroll for the next succeeding semester or the next school year depending on the program in which they were enrolled.
Madison College will grant advanced standing based on demonstrated/documented college-level learning. Advanced standing is credit granted toward the completion of a particular degree/diploma. The total for all forms of advanced standing cannot exceed 25 percent of the credits required for graduation.
