African American Youth Career and College Fair

This Fair is typically held at the end of January each year at the Madison College Truax Campus.

The mission of the HBCU Youth Fair is to expose African American Dane County students to these colleges and universities along with other Wisconsin based institutions. Over twenty historically African American and Wisconsin colleges and universities had representation at this year’s fair! In addition to highlighting institutions of higher education, students attended two workshops: “Show Me the Money: Financially Planning for Your Academic Future & Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)” and “Write Your Way Into College” which provided information to students on how to successfully complete college and scholarship essays and applications.

It is important to the Madison Alumnae Chapter and Madison College that the African American Youth College Fair be well attended so students can be exposed to a variety of institutions of higher education! As a result of our collaboration, the 2015 HBCU Youth Fair had a NO COST event with lunch provided for ALL! The only requirement was that attendee’s pre- register and schools must provide their own transportation.
