Satisfactory Academic Progress

Reinstatement Request Process

To qualify for one of the financial aid reinstatement processes below you must:

  • Complete your FAFSA
  • Be accepted into an eligible program of study
  • Be registered in courses that fulfill outstanding requirements of your current program of study. For questions regarding what courses are still needed, utilize your Advisement Report.

Reinstatement after Academic Improvement

If you did not have circumstances beyond your control that caused your financial aid suspension, then you must meet the following criteria to request reinstatement:

  1. Complete at least 6 credits within one semester without financial aid at Madison College
  2. Complete all courses (no final grades of W, F, or I)
  3. Achieve a semester GPA of at least 2.0.

Once grades are official for the semester, submit the Reinstatement Request Form (PDF, 705 KB) to the Financial Aid Office to request review for reinstatement.

Reinstatement by Appeal

If you had circumstances beyond your control that caused your financial aid suspension, you may complete the Appeal Form.

Financial Aid Suspensions:

  1. GPA and/or Completion Percentage Suspension
The Appeal Form can be found under your myMadisonCollege Student Center To Do List item as the second option on your “Financial Aid Suspension” and must be submitted with documentation from a third party (e.g. physician; employer) that supports the circumstances of the appeal.
  2. Maximum Time Frame Suspension
The Appeal Form can be found under your myMadisonCollege Student Center To Do List item. To receive financial aid each semester you must submit a separate appeal form every semester you wish to receive financial aid.

Allow up to FOUR WEEKS from submission of the appeal form and all documentation to process an appeal. You will be notified regarding a determination or next steps via your Madison College student email. To expedite processing, submit the appeal form and supporting documentation at the same time. All appeals and corresponding paperwork must be submitted by the following deadlines:

  • Fall semester - third Monday in November
  • Spring semester - third Monday in April
  • Summer semester - third Monday of the semester

Any documentation submitted after the deadline will be considered for the next semester. Upon review of the appeal, there may be additional items required (e.g.the Academic Fitness Program).
