Basic Skills Education
The School of Academic Advancement provides opportunities for individuals to review or improve their basic skills in most academic subject areas including:
- academic reading
- academic writing
- math
- science
- social studies
- study skills
- basic computer literacy skills
- job seeking skills
Individualized, group and computer-assisted instruction is available at learning centers and in structured classes throughout the Madison College district. Scheduling is flexible to fit most schedules. Classes are non-credit and tuition-free, however the purchase of a textbook or other materials may be required.

Off-Campus Outreach Sites offering GED/HSED and Basic Skills Instruction:
GED/HSED and Basic Skills Instruction is offered off-campus at various outreach sites in Madison and surrounding communities. No appointment needed. Registration is completed on site by the instructor during scheduled times. Contact the school office at 608-258-2440 to get information on locations and times.
