The Economics Department at Madison College is committed to excellence in economics education and to helping students develop their critical thinking skills to enhance decision making.
Economics is the study of decision making by individuals, businesses, and nations in the face of limited resources. Economics is a very popular undergraduate major because of the insights the economic way of thinking provides across a wide variety of topics, including health care, labor markets, government stabilization policy, profit-maximization by businesses, poverty, market failure, government failure, and many, many others. Broadly speaking, the goal of our economics courses is to train students to think analytically about social issues, and as such provide a solid foundation for careers in economics and many other closely-related professional careers. To this end, the Economics Department offers a variety of courses to meet the needs of program and liberal arts transfer students at all of Madison Area Technical College’s campuses.
