Janet Sperstad, CMP, is the Program Director for the Meeting and Event Management Degree Program at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. The Madison College program, which Ms. Sperstad founded, is the first Associate Degree program in meeting and event management in the U.S.

Ms. Sperstad is the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) International Planner of the Year for 2007-2008.  
A 20-year veteran of meeting and event management, Ms. Sperstad has been employed by a Fortune 500 global company, a statewide association, and owned a professional event management firm. She has devoted her professional energies to the development and success of the meeting planning profession.  While serving as a committee member on the MPI International Professional Development Strategy Group, she helped to develop a comprehensive taxonomy to define the body of knowledge in meeting planning. This taxonomy includes 13 competency families with over 160 skills, the first of its kind in the history of the profession.
Ms. Sperstad has served as MPI Wisconsin Chapter President. She has chaired and served on numerous committees in the meetings industry, including MPI International. In addition to her MPI service she contributes her leadership skills to the Convention Industry Council as Chair of the APEX Education Advisory Council, the Professional Convention Management Association Faculty Task Force, the International Association of Conference Centers, Green Meeting Industry Council, and the National Business Travel Association Strategic Meeting Management Certification Task Force.
She was recognized by her college for excellence in teaching as Madison College’s Distinguished Teacher of the Year in 2005. She has received numerous awards and recognition from MPI-Wisconsin chapter and was inducted into the Chapter Hall of Fame in 2006.
Ms. Sperstad has written for and been featured in a variety of industry publications and is an internationally recognized meeting professional, teacher, and trainer.

 Jodi Goldbeck

Jodi Goldbeck, CMP

Jodi Goldbeck, CMP, is an Instructor in the Meeting and Event Management Degree Program at Madison College. The Madison College program is the first Associate Degree program in meeting and event management in the United States.  She also serves as the Internship Coordinator for the department.

Prior to her position at Madison College, Jodi was employed for 10 years as the Director of Conference Services at the Fluno Center for Executive Education, a professional, state-of-the-art conference center located on the campus of UW-Madison. In her role at the Fluno Center, she was responsible for managing a department that planned meetings and special events for groups from 5 to 500.

Jodi earned her Master's Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Personnel and Labor Relations. Before receiving her Master's Degree, she worked at a U.S. Olympic Training Center planning and organizing sporting events throughout the state of Michigan. Additionally, from 2001 through 2008, Jodi taught part-time at Madison College in the Meeting and Event Management Program and also in the Business Technology Department

Jodi received her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification in August of 2004. She is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Wisconsin and has served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Special Events (2010-2011), Director of Publications, Advertising & Community Outreach (2011-2013) and most recently as the Vice President of Communications (2013-2015).  Jodi has received the Industry Advocate Award and was inducted into the MPI-Wisconsin Hall of Fame in 2014.  She has also co-facilitated several CMP Prep Days throughout the state

Peggy McCumber, CMP 
Peggy McCumber, CMP is a part time instructor for the Partnership Development course in the Meeting and Event Management Degree Program in Madison, Wisconsin, USA since 2009.
Ms. McCumber is employed full time for 17 years at American Family Insurance. Currently, Peggy works in the Marketing Department that handles the promotions and incentives for the field force. Prior to joining the Field Promotions Department, she was the Travel and Meetings Team Manager .
In her role in the Travel and Meetings Department, Peggy was responsible for the daily operations in the Corporate Travel Department. In addition, she planned several of the corporate conferences and meetings though out the operating states of American Family. 
During this time, she served on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Business Travel Association. She was the Chair of the Partnership program for the association as well as the Hospitality Committee. The WBTA Member of the Year was awarded to Peggy in 2007.
Peggy earned her Bachelor's Degree from Cardinal Stritch University in 2005 and her CMP designation in 2008.
