Group Fitness Classes

Click here to view the times and dates for the Summer 2016 group fitness classes offered through Madison College Fitness, Health & Recreation.  All yoga classes will be held in room 131 in the Health Education Building.

Registration for classes can be done online by clicking the links below or at the Truax and Downtown campuses by going to the fitness center service desk.

 A physical practice that involves flow or moving with the breath series along with the holding of poses for balance and strength. The practice also includes learning breathing techniques and techniques for controlling thoughts and focus. Aspects of therapeutic yoga are also included. 55-minute class. All yoga classes will be held in room 131 in the Health Education Building.
Can't commit to the entire 6 week session? We are please to introduce a new way to experience whatever class is most convenient for you. There will now be a drop in fee for each class if you are interested in attending. See below for pricing details:

Mindfulness Practice:

Join us to practice easy techniques for peace of mind and overall well-being. Chairs and floor cushions are provided. No registration required; just drop in when it works in your schedule. This is free 30 minute class open to anyone who is interested. All classes will be held in room 131 in the Health Education Building.

Fall & Spring Semester Schedule:

  • Mondays 11:30-12:00 Guided Mindfulness Practice 
  • Wednesdays 12:00-12:30 Guided Mindfulness Practice

Aqua Fitness: 50-minute water workout incorporating aerobic & strength moves performed in shallow and optional deep areas

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30am.  No pre-registration required, but participants must purchase a membership or day pass to participate in the class.

Couch to 5k:   

Couch to 5K is a gentle introduction to running. We start
by alternating between walking and running to slowly build
strength and endurance. After nine weeks, you will be ready
to run the Turkey Trot 5K race on November 1st. The group trains together
once per week and you must complete two weekly trainings
on your own. No running experience necessary.

What: 9-week walking & running program
Cost for employees and students is $30
excludes 5K race fee

When: Two options - choose Thursdays or Fridays

Thursdays, 4:45 - 5:45 pm, (Sept. 3 - October 29)·

Fridays, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm,  (Sept. 4 - October 30)
