Acceptance onto a Program Waitlist
Qualified applicants are accepted into high-demand programs on a first-come, first-served basis.
If the number of complete applications on file on the first day of application processing exceeds the number of openings available for a particular program, applicants will be randomly selected by computer for admission to that program.
Applicants not selected for admission will be invited via a letter in the mail to the program’s waitlist. As indicated in the notification letter, a $50 Advance Reservation Fee is due within 30 days of waitlist notification. Payment of this fee is required to ensure placement on the waitlist. This fee will be applied toward tuition at the time of enrollment. More information about Advance Reservation Fees, including refund restrictions, can be found at Fees.
When the waitlist is full, the program is closed. Applicants will be notified via the mail when space becomes available.
Acceptance off a waitlist for Dental Hygienist, Medical Coding Specialist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography, or Surgical Technologist
Priority will be given to applicants who have successfully completed all pre-core courses.
If space still remains in the program, applicants who are in progress with the pre-core courses will be considered.
In-progress applicants will be admitted based on the stipulation that pre-core courses are completed with a C or higher and transcripts are submitted to the Enrollment Center by June 15 for fall term and January 2 for spring term.
When an applicant’s name reaches the top of the waiting list, the applicant must either be in-progress with or have completed the required courses. If this criterion is not met, the applicant will be removed from the waiting list and will need to reapply.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate transcripts are on file in the Enrollment Center for courses completed at another institution.
Program Entry & Deferment
Qualified applicants are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available. It is expected applicants are prepared to begin their program any time after the term for which they applied. Madison College staff may inform an applicant with an estimated term start; however, this date is not guaranteed.
Fall Semester Program Start: applicants who are notified of admittance into a program before July 15 must begin the program at fall term start of the current academic year; otherwise they will need to re-apply. If the applicant is notified of admittance into the program after July 15 and the applicant is unable to begin in the fall, a one-time deferment for the next in-take term may be requested.
Spring Semester Program Start: applicants who are notified of admittance into a program before November 1 must begin the program at spring term start of the current academic year; otherwise they will need to re-apply. If the applicant is notified of admittance into the program after November 1 and the applicant is unable to begin in the spring, a one-time deferment for the next in-take term may be requested.
