Haiti Panel Discussion

Hear experts on Haiti speak on the recent disaster, relief efforts and the story behind US and Haitian relations this Friday (Jan. 29) starting at noon in the Truax Student Lounge.

Young Haitian girl on cot with bandaged head woundMadison College students, staff and faculty are invited to attend a panel discussion on Haiti to be held on Friday, Jan. 29, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Truax Student Lounge, Room 142C.

Panelists will include:

  • Dr. Brenda Plummer, Afro-Caribbean historian, UW-Madison
    Historical context of Haiti, Haitian underdevelopment and U.S. relations
     
  • Eyleen Chou, president, Engineers Without Borders, UW-Madison Chapter
    Discussion of EWB work in Haiti since 2002 and reports from students in the country during the quake
     
  • Tom Mooney, chief executive officer, American Red Cross Badger Chapter
    Overview of Red Cross activity and how funds donated are being used
