The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) offers training for new users as well as Blackboard's advanced features.

On-Demand Video Tutorial Center: This is a Blackboard site where you will find many common topics when you need them.

Facilitated Online Courses:

Blackboard: Getting Started with Blackboard 9.1
This course is offered entirely online and starts the first Monday of every month.  This course provides a hands-on introduction to the teaching and learning features of Blackboard 9.1. You will also become familiar with some common start-up tasks, such as organizing the Course Menu, customizing the course style, creating announcements, adding calendar entries, setting up discussion forums, and adding textbook information. Blackboard: Enhancing Communication

This online course allows you to register and complete anytime within a four-month period. This online course covers how to: Compare and contrast asynchronous and synchronous modes, Establish course communication policies and procedures, Communicate information through Email and Messages, Enhance communication with participants using the Discussion Board, Conduct synchronous communication sessions in using the Virtual Classroom and Chat tools. Register with CETL.

Blackboard: Assessing Learners

This online course allows you to register and complete anytime within a four-month period. This online course covers how to: Identify online strategies for accessing students, Use the Assignment tool to create a variety of assignments,  Build and administer Tests and Surveys using a variety of question types, Manage and grade assessments and assignments. Register with CETL.

Blackboard: Designing Engaging Content: Strategies for Effective Online Lessons

This online course allows you to register and complete anytime within a four-month period. This online course covers:Identify tools and strategies for presenting user-friendly content online, Modify existing content to better meet the needs of online learners, Demonstrate ways to address diverse learning styles in content delivery, Organize, plan, and develop an exemplary lesson, Incorporate interactivity to engage students and go beyond text-heavy lessons, etc.  Register with CETL.

Blackboard: Monitoring Student Performance

This online course allows you to register and complete anytime within a four-month period.  This online course covers how to:Identify tools and strategies for monitoring student performance, Set up the Grade Center to meet your assessment and evaluation goals, Efficiently manage grades throughout the term, Set up the Early Warning System to provide notification based on the specific needs of your course, etc. Register with CETL.
