The Communications and Public Relations department serves as the campus’ news bureau. Our primary responsibility is to share information about Madison College with the publics who influence our success including campus faculty, staff and students; prospective students; alumni and friends; benefactors; and the local and global community our campus serves.
We advance Madison College’s mission by supporting institutional goals in the areas of student recruitment and retention, marketing and promotions, and communications with internal and external stakeholders. The Communications and Public Relations department is the central point of contact for the media and serves as the voice of Madison College through news releases and media advisories, newsletters, magazines and collateral publications; social media; and in conversations with media colleagues that are built on mutual respect and trust, and the desire to serve the public interest.
Members of the media should see our For the Media section for more information.
Madison College Matters, the campus’ internal newsletter distributed electronically to all college employees in the district, is produced by this department. Two student interns who are enrolled in Madison College’s Journalism Certificate Program or a related course of study bear primary responsibility for managing the content for Matters.
The Communications and Public Relations department is also the link between news media and Madison College sources to facilitate requests for information, arrange interviews with campus experts and share news tips and story ideas. In addition, we provide public relations counsel and media training to faculty and staff at all levels.
