A flexible spending account (FSA) allows you to deduct childcare and uninsured medical expenses on a pre-tax basis. The maximum you can designate per year for health expenses is $2,500 and the maximum per year for dependent care is $5,000.

Health Care FSA is an option for full-time faculty, full-time PSRP, and administrative staff.

Dependent Care FSA is an option for full-time faculty, part-time faculty, full-time PSRP, part-time PSRP, and administrative staff.

NEW FOR 2014:

  1. Participants can no longer use pre-tax FSA dollars for health insurance premiums.
  2. Part-time employees are no longer eligible to participate in a Health Care FSA. However, part-time employees may still participate in a Dependent Care FSA through a pre-tax payroll deduction. This is a result of new rules announced by the IRS and the Department of Labor related to the Affordable Care Act (health care reform).

The enrollment period for 2014 will run from
November 1 to December 2, 2013.
