What is MAAP?

MAAP is the acronym commonly used at Madison Area Technical College for our Mandatory Assessment, Advising and Placement policy. MAAP is an integrated process involving the following:

• Mandatory assessment: Students enrolling in an identified, entry-level course will have an assessment (COMPASS test) of the basic skills necessary to be successful in that course.
• Mandatory advising: Students enrolling in an identified, entry-level course will receive advising regarding their assessment results and appropriate placement.
• Mandatory placement: Students enrolling in an identified, entry-level course will be placed into the course for which they are academically prepared.
