State Grants

Madison College receives competitive and formula grants from the Wisconsin Technical College System annually in the following three categories:

Adult Education and Family Literacy (AEFL) Grants

The purpose of the AEFL Act is to:

  • Assist adults to become literate and to obtain the knowleddge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency
  • Assist adults who are parents to obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children
  • Assist adults in the completion of a secondary school education.

AEFL funding is awarded to Madison College's School of Academic Advancement in the following categories:

  • Adult Basic Education Comprehensive Programs
  • Institutionalized Individuals
  • Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education

General Purpose Revenue (GPR) Grants

The purpose of the GPR grants is to provide support for areas within the technical colleges that have been identified by WTCS, the legislature and the governor as priorities for state support.

Funding is available in the following categories:

  • Apprentice-Related Instruction
  • Career Pathways
  • Core Industry
  • New Markets
  • Professional Development
  • Student Support
  • Workforce Advancement Training (WAT) Grants

Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Grants

The purpose of these funds is to develop more fully the academic, career and technical skills of secondary students and postsecondary students who elect to enroll in career and technical education (CTE) programs.

Funding is available in the following categories:

  • Strengthening Career and Technical Education Programs
  • Student Success
  • Nontraditional Occupation (NTO) Enrollment and Completion
  • Career Prep and High School to College Transitions
  • Reserve Fund (invitation only; for 2014-15 our focus will be on veteran student success)
