The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) sponsors an awards program to honor excellence in teaching at Madison Area Technical College. Faculty will be recognized for either the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award or the League for Innovation John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.
The selected distinguished faculty members will be honored with one of these awards, which includes attendance at either the NISOD Conference, May 23 to May 26, 2015, in Austin, Texas, or the League for Innovation Conference, March 8 to March 11, 2015, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Please consider nominating a colleague for one of these distinguished awards. Use the Teaching Excellence Award Form to submit a nominee.
Full and part-time faculty members are eligible for the awards. All employees are eligible to nominate faculty colleagues for the awards. All nominations will be signed by two (2) principle supporters who have first-hand knowledge of the achievements and effectiveness of the nominee. Successful nominations may be signed by at least four (4) supporters who have knowledge of the achievements and effectiveness of the nominee. A CETL hosted committee will rank the nominations using the Selection Criteria (121KB PDF) and the Teaching Excellence Awards Nominee Evaluation Rubric (121KB PDF).
Award winners will be honored at either the annual NISOD Excellence Award or the League for Innovation John and Suanne Roueche Excellence Award. Winners will be funded by CETL to attend the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Conference or the League for Innovation in Teaching Excellence Conference. Conference attendees will be encouraged to share their experiences with the Madison College community via CETL activities throughout the next academic year. Teaching Excellence Award winners will also be honored at the January Convocation each year.
In 1989, in connection with a University of Texas national study of teaching excellence, NISOD hosted its first Excellence Awards ceremony, held in conjunction with our annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence, honoring and naming the individuals featured in this study as recipients of the NISOD Excellence Award. Over the past 20+ years, the Excellence Awards tradition has had the distinct privilege of honoring more than 15,000 of the world's best in higher education.
