Study Insurance & Risk Management in London and Paris

Program Overview

This trip takes students to the birthplace of insurance – Lloyds! Students will enjoy a tour of Lloyds along with a risk management presentation by the International Institute for Risk and Safety Management. In London, students will explore British culture and history while earning Madison College credit.

Students will also travel to Paris to hear a lecture from a Professor of Graduate Studies in Risk Management and enjoy a visit to the Eiffel Tower. During the trip, students will prepare a guide to safe international travel.

Course Information

Students must take Advanced Risk Management Strategies (New course title - Global Risk Strategies) (3 credits). This is a research-based, hands-on course emphasizing the global interdependence of both business and insurance.

Accommodations and Meals

Students will stay in double-occupancy hotels in both London and Paris. Some meals are included.   

Excursions

As part of the program cost students will experience a number of excursions and cultural activities. Possible tours may include:

  • Tower of London Dungeon
  • Stonehenge
  • Bath
  • Windsor
  • Cruise in Paris
  • Jack the Ripper tour
  • Eiffel Tower

Additional Information

A passport is required for US citizens. If you need to apply for a passport, it is advised to allow at least 6 weeks for standard processing.

All students are required to attend the pre-departure orientation. This orientation provides information on health and safety, packing and trip planning, flight logistics, and other essential information.

Students are accompanied by the course instructor, who provides oversight for the program and assistance to students as needed.

Cost

The program fee includes (approx. cost $1,600.00):

  • Application fee
  • Triple-occupancy hotel
  • All breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner
  • Course-related field trips
  • Mandatory international health insurance
  • Transportation to and from Paris

Additional costs include:

  • Tuition for 3 credit course
  • Airfare
  • Additional meals
  • Spending money
  • Passport (if you do not already have one)
  • Textbook from Assessing & Managing Risks is used as a resource
  • Fundraising efforts are pending and may reduce students’ travel costs (already reduced from $2,100.00 to 1,600.00)
