Complete the Yellow Belt series of training courses to finish with the Yellow Belt certification or continue with additional coursework to pursue the Green Belt certification.
The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course skillfully blends the tools of Lean with the rigor of the DMAIC methodology. Yellow belt training provides the process management and tools to be an effective team participant and contributor within any organization. Yellow belt training also provides supervisors with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively engage and support continuous improvement efforts and project improvement teams. Participants that complete this course are well prepared to continue on to Green Belt Certification training and project work. This course uses a blended approach of sophisticated on-line modules and classroom instruction.
Specific topics covered under Yellow Belt training include; Understanding the Voice of the Customer, Understanding the relationships between Suppliers-Inputs-Process-Outputs-Customer (SIPOC), and how to use a structured problem solving methodology, Define, Measure Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC). Participants also learn to use various tools to gather and analyze data, determine root causes and cause and effect relationships. Also covered are system fundamentals such as variation, types of waste, capacity, control, and system improvement.
This course is designed for those that wish to receive their Yellow Belt Certification. Pre-requisite is successful completion of the Yellow Belt Training course. The capstone is a full-day class/case study that puts into practice the key concepts, practices, and competencies learned in the Yellow Belt Course. Students going on for Green Belt certification do not need to take this course as there is a capstone event at the completion of the Green Belt training.
Lean six sigma is a disciplined, comprehensive process improvement approach focused on reducing waste, mistakes, and process variability. Lean six sigma seeks to increase customer satisfaction, improve system performance, and engage employees resulting in improved profits and greater employee involvement and morale. Upon completion of this course, participants will be prepared to participate and lead continuous improvement efforts and projects.
Specific skills learned in the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt include learning a structured approach to solving problems and improving systems performance (DMAIC), learning how to incorporate the voice of the customer into decision making, learning to map processes, understand systems and how to manage, improve, measure, and control them. Participants will learn how to gather and use data to analyze and help make decisions as well as how to facilitate work place teams and effectively engage others. Upon completion of this course, participants may complete a capstone project and receive their Green Belt Certification. Participants are required to have already completed the Yellow Belt training courses.
