Motorcycle, Marine & Outdoor Power Products FAQ

When can I start the program?

When can I apply, and how do I apply?

What are the admissions requirements?
  • The only admissions requirement is that you have a high school diploma, HSED, or GED.

Does this program have a waitlist?
  • A waitlist always forms for this program, so the earlier you apply the better.
  • Even if you are initially placed on a waitlist, you may be able to take the spot of someone who decides not to attend.
  • Last year, all students who started the program had application complete dates of March or earlier. Several of these students had initially been placed on the waitlist, but were admitted when someone before them decided not to attend.
  • Students with application complete dates of April or later had one full year on the waitlist before they could start program classes.
  • If you have already completed an application and want to know what number you are on the waitlist, contact Academic Advising Services.

What is the cost of tuition?

How long is the program and what kind of diploma/degree will I receive?
  • It is a one-year technical diploma.
  • The course will take you one year to complete when you take all classes each semester in sequence.

What is a typical schedule?
  • Students go full-time to day classes (typically 7:30 am -2:30 pm, M-F) for two semesters, with some variation.
  • All classes are held at the Madison Truax campus.

Can I start working towards graduation requirements before I am accepted into the program?

Can I just take one or two of the program motorcycle/small engine classes without applying to the program?
  • No. Because this program has a waitlist, program classes are full to capacity with program students.  As a result, you typically cannot register for our program classes before being admitted into the program.
  • MATC does offer non-degree evening courses in small engine and basic motorcycle repair.  You can view the schedule for these classes online.
