The Nursing Assistant program is a three credit, 120 hour program recognized by the Department of Health Services. This program is a state-regulated nurse aide training program, and upon successful completion of the program students are eligible for certification testing. Due to the structure of the program there are certain steps that must be followed, and these steps also have to work in alignment with the Department of Public Instruction requirements for youth options. Please refer to the Nursing Assistant Registration Checklist (students must be 16 years of age prior to the first day of class) for specific information and details.
What paperwork is required?
Please note: it is your responsibility to verify that the Enrollment Center has received your English test scores or transcripts, prior to registration.
What steps should I follow?
Prior to enrolling in a Nursing Assistant class, you must complete the background check and health screening. More details can be found on the Certified Background Student Instructions document (PDF, 176 KB).
You will go to CertifiedBackground.com to order and pay for your background check and health screening document manager. The cost is $68. The package code for Madison College is MJ17. Make sure to fill out and upload the Background Information Disclosure (BID) form to your Certified Profile. You must also complete and submit a Health Screening form to CertifiedBackground.com. NOTE: The Health Screening form will require you to obtain personal health records, TB testing, and other vaccinations. It could take more than three weeks to complete the required vaccinations and testing, so please allow ample time prior to term start.
If you are concerned about the potential results of your background check, you may wish to speak with our Nursing Assistant Program Director prior to activating your Certified Background account.
