Student Success and Academic Advising

There are many pieces of advice we give to ensure your success as a student. Below is a list of our Top 10 suggestions:

  1. Don’t take on more than you can handle: balance school, work, and family. Part time status is an option.
  2. Make a commitment to do your best: attend classes, do assignments, ask for help when you need it; communicate with instructors.
  3. Open Business Lab: a computer lab for Business Technology students. It is a great resource for help  http://madisoncollege.edu/plus/business-technology/business-open-lab
  4. Faculty advisors are assigned to each student: It is important to meet with them when planning schedules in future semesters or whenever you have a question.

  5. Laddering means completing a certificate first, and then proceeding to a program. Or consider completing a one-year program and then continuing to a two-year program. Many courses will count in multiple areas!
