Clarion Receives State and Regional Awards

Madison Area Technical College's student newspaper brings home "the hardware" from two recent journalism conferences.

Members of The Clarion staff were presented with a total of 14 state and regional awards at two recent newspaper conferences.

The Madison College student newspaper received four awards including first place award in “Best of Show for Two-Year College Newspapers” at the Associated Collegiate Press Best of the Midwest College Media Convention in Minneapolis.

-Third place, feature writing, Cristalyne Bell

The Clarion also received 10 awards including first place in “General Excellence” for non-daily newspapers at the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Convention in Appleton.

Other awards received at the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Convention were:
-First place, best advertisement, Vishmaa Ramsaroop-Briggs.
-Second place, graphics, Vishmaa Ramsaroop-Briggs.
-Second place, column writing, Alisha Stahl.
-Second place, general reporting, Vishmaa Ramsaroop-Briggs.
-Third place, sports reporting, Matt Daniels.
-Third place, sports column, Caleb Sanford.
-Third place, general web excellence.
-Honorable mention, sports reporting, Matt Daniels.
-Honorable mention, best editorial, Buddy Thompson.
