Sheet Metal Program Outcomes

Tech Sheet Metal

  • The fabrication and installation of duct systems
  • The installation and service of air conditioning equipment and electromechanical devices
  • Shop fabrication including: laying out of patterns, and the production of elbows, offsets, gutters, louvers and architectural sheet metal
  • Proper use of power and hand tools
  • Welding process for oxyacetylene, shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, and flame cutting
  • Technical math including fractures, decimals, algebraic formulas, and geometry
  • Print reading for architectural plans, electrical plans, structural drawings, mechanical drawings, sheet metal drawings, plus plans and elevations
  • Install service and repair air handling equipment
  • Install and repair sheet metal products and ensure installation conforms to specifications and building codes
  • Use laser or plasma cutting equipment numerically controlled or computerized equipment to cut, drill or punch bend and shape sheet metal parts
  • Layout, measure and fabricates sheet metal parts according to drawing and templates
  • Testing, adjusting and balancing and fine tuning and maintaining HVAC systems
  • Troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems
  • The design, fabrication and installation of HVAC systems
