World Student Association Activities
In addition to several impromptu social gatherings and volunteer efforts throughout the semester, WSA also works with the Center for International Education to coordinate the following events each year:
International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.
Celebrated each November, International Education Week aims to emphasize global understanding and international awareness through a variety of programs on campus.
A potluck is a typical American gathering where each person brings a different food dish to share. Please join our international potluck by bringing a traditional food from your home country to share.
The International Potlucks are typically held in February and September.
International students share their cultures with children demonstrating dances, playing traditional music, helping with cultural crafts, and telling their countries folk stories. Bring your children and experience a world culture! This event is typically held later in the Spring semester.
Global Showcase is celebrated during the Spring semester and is a cultural exchange that aims to emphasize global understanding and international awareness through a variety of cultural performances.
Our Global Showcase hands the Student Lounge stage over to students who wish to share performances highlighting their cultural backgrounds with other Madison College students, faculty, staff and guests. Celebrate cultures from around the world by joining us for great ethnic food, fashion shows, and international dance and musical performances.
Do you want to share your culture? Contact the World Students Association if you would like to perform during this event.
International Outreach, one of our community partners, plans a number of activities for both international and domestic students. Please visit International Outreach for more information.
The World Students Association weekly meetings date and location will be announced at the beginning of Fall semester 2014. Stay tuned!
