Madison College Shuttles

Currently enrolled degree-credit students at Madison College are eligible to ride the shuttles, which serve the Commercial Avenue, Truax, South, and West Campuses; Sun Prairie and several east and west neighborhoods. To ride the shuttles, you must present your Madison College OneCard as you board. Non-degree students may also ride the shuttle if they buy the Student Activities/Commuter Services/Health and Fitness Package, which costs $75 a semester.

The shuttles operate Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. when classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters, including final exam weeks. Shuttles do not operate during the summer months. All shuttles are wheelchair accessible and equipped with bike racks.

The shuttle service was established in 2010 by the Student Senate and is coordinated by Commuter Services, which is promoted by Student Life. Shuttle service is funded by the Commuter Services Fee, managed by student leaders on the Student Activities Board. The shuttle program has provided over 800,000 rides for Madison College students.

Downtown Shuttle Departures

Boarding from the circle driveway at the Truax Campus Gateway (1701 Wright Street) and boarding at the Capital Centre Market (111 North Broom Street). A rolling* stop (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is made at the main entrance of the Commercial Avenue Campus (2125 Commercial Avenue) approximately 5-10 minutes after Truax or 10-25 minutes after Downtown departure. If you want the shuttle to drop you at Commercial Avenue, please notify the driver when boarding at Truax or Downtown.

*Rolling stop means you need to watch for the shuttle, wave at the driver while approaching the shuttle or stand at the shuttle sign, or the shuttle won't stop. A "rolling stop" is used at the Commercial Avenue campus, because if the shuttle sits and waits for a specific posted departure time, it is unable to stay on schedule between the Truax campus and downtown Madison, given the variance in traffic volume and delays caused by various construction projects in the city. Years of ridership data, from the Commercial Avenue campus, indicates that there is a less than 1% chance that someone will board from this location, whether the stop is a "rolling stop" or a "designated departure time stop".

Use Metro Bus #6 to move between Truax Campus and Downtown area, when shuttle not in service.
