About Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

Madison College continues to closely monitor the spread of the respiratory disease COVID-19, or coronavirus. Health officials believe the disease originated in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and continues to expand to other countries and U.S states.

Coronavirus spreads easily and causes mild illness in most people. Severe illness requiring hospitalization has mostly been limited to older patients and those with underlying health problems.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and difficulty breathing. Symptoms can reportedly appear two to 14 days after initial exposure to the virus. People become infected by inhaling respiratory droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze, or by touching contaminated surfaces like door handles.
