COVID-19 forcing changes for college cafeterias

Coronavirus forcing college's to adapt cafeteria areas.

The coronavirus pandemic is changing many things in our lives. That includes new safety precautions at community colleges.

Food Services Manager Jason Walker was recently interviewed by Foodservice Equipment and Supplies magazine about how the coronavirus is forcing colleges to adapt their dining programs.

“In general, we’re just trying to figure out how to spread things out and move to all full-service operations versus self-service. And we’re shifting to more controlled grab-and-go, bringing coolers that were out front to the back to reduce touch points,” Walker told the magazine.

He says the food aspect itself isn’t tough to change. It’s layout and operations that are more challenging when there’s so much uncertainty with the coronavirus.
