Overview

The Social Sciences Data Analytics Certificate (SSDAC) will teach you research skills for use in industry, education and beyond. Gain skills in theory, data collection, data management, data analysis, data visualization and data presentation. We will prepare you to work in academic research environments and for private or public employers. You will graduate with traits employers want, including good communication skills, ethics, logic and critical decision making.

Program Details

Students earning the Social Sciences Data Analytics Certificate can attend full or part time.

Curriculum

The courses listed below outline the requirements for completion for students officially admitted in the 2018-2019 academic year. Requirements for completion may vary depending on the semester in which a student is admitted or may be completed by other equivalent courses. Current/continuing students should consult their Academic Requirements report available through their student account for specific requirements and equivalent courses.

First, complete one (1) course from the listed courses.





*Students may choose to take American National Government in lieu of Political Theory

After completion of the social science course, complete all three (3) of the listed courses.




Outcomes

After completing the Social Sciences Data Analytics Certificate at Madison Area Technical College, you will be able to:

  • Earn credits toward an associate degree: Credits may be used as program requirements or electives for the Liberal Arts associate degree.
  • Gain employment: With additional education and experience, graduates may find work in research, nonprofit organizations, business and industry and government.
  • Develop research skills: You will be prepared for advanced, rigorous empirical research. You may seek to get work published, create presentations, attend conferences or find service learning and internship opportunities.
  • Earn transfer credit: Some courses offer a direct transfer to University of Wisconsin schools. Check with your advisor and transfer school for verification.
  • Achieve core Madison College Workforce Skills: These key life and success skills will help you grow as a life-long learner on the job, at home and in the community. Gain skills in communication, critical thinking, ethics, global and cultural perspectives, self-management and social interaction.
