The Instructional Assistant: Supporting Children's Learning certificate from Madison College meets the Title 1 requirement to prepare individuals to work directly with students under the supervision of a licensed teacher. Instruction Assistants/Paraeducators may be hired to provide instructional services to students from pre-kindergarten through high school; however, the focus of this program is to prepare graduates to work primarily in elementary and middle-level schools. Students who have completed an associate or bachelor's degree or the Child Care Services techinical diploma would be good candidates for this certificate.
The Wisconsin Early Childhood Association offers credit for prior learning. To learn how your experience could count toward your degree contact the program director.
