  • Blackboard Help

    Blackboard is Madison College's online course management system. Your online, online live and hybrid courses will likely use Blackboard. Face-to-face courses might also include content on Blackboard.

    Course organization is left up to the instructor so each course may look a little different in Blackboard. Depending on the course, your instructor may include:

    Madison College offers the required technology and resources you need for successful learning. We’re committed to doing all we can to provide affordable, accessible education for all.

    Learn how to borrow a laptop or internet hotspot, find tips on creating multimedia projects, locate on-campus computer labs and more.

    Technology Access Program

    Madison College provides equipment such as laptops and internet hotspots free of charge to currently registered students.

    You must request equipment before coming to campus.

    To request equipment, you will need to fill out and submit the Self-Service Equipment Loan Request for Students.

    Once approved, you can pick up your equipment at any campus you choose.

    It is important for you to return equipment on time so Madison College can provide it to other students. If you are graduating or no longer taking classes, you must return equipment by the due date for that semester at any of the campus locations.

    Equipment and Multimedia

    Common multimedia assignments at the College include:

    • Adding audio narration to a PowerPoint, or recording a podcast, vlog, PSA, or video
    • Editing short video projects such as a speech or interview
    • Studying or working collaboratively, viewing media and creating group presentations

    Before You Create a Multimedia Project

    Read your assignment instructions carefully. If you have questions about the assignment, ask your instructor. Multimedia projects take a lot of time, so plan accordingly.

    Also consider how you will save and submit your multimedia assignment.

    If you need a space to record your project, consider booking a study room in one of our libraries.

    Your Outlook student email is the official means of communication with instructors and the College.

    After you have been accepted to a program or enrolled in a course, make sure you can access your email and check it regularly for updates and information. Log in to Outlook through a web browser or install the app on your mobile device to stay connected on the go.

  • On-Campus Technology: Labs, Printing, Scanning, WiFi

    College Open Computer Labs

    All campus libraries have open computer labs and laptops that can be used in the libraries.

    Check with your instructor or department for hours and locations of other open labs. Computers are also available for use in hallways and other open areas on-campus during building open hours. Most classroom labs have classes scheduled and generally are not available for individual use.

    WiFi

    Madison College recommends all students connect to the MC-Secure wireless network when using personal computers and devices on-campus.

    Printing

    Printers are available at all Madison College Libraries and Student Achievement Centers. Many classroom labs also have printers available during scheduled class time.

    Lab computers should be set up to print in our library computer labs. If you would like to print from your personal device, please follow the directions on our Mobility Print guide.

  • Saving Your Files

    OneDrive is part of Office 365 and provides cloud storage space for your files.

    Your college account is a ‘OneDrive for work or school’ account.

    If you choose to, you can also share a file or collaborate with others at the College.

    • Easy to use
    • Access on-campus or off-campus
    • More space - 1 TB of space in the cloud with your College OneDrive
    • Secure - Your files are private unless you choose to share them with others at the college
    • Transferable skill - Many workplaces use OneDrive and you could also choose to have a personal OneDrive account

    Students also get dedicated space on their Home Directory or ‘H drive’ to save files. Log on to a Windows computer on any MATC campus or to your virtual desktop, and you will be automatically connected to your Home Directory / H drive. This drive is identified as H: followed by your username. Off-campus access to your H drive is available through the virtual desktop or Fileway.

  • Setting up your Device

    Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

    MFA is required when using Madison College services off-campus. In a limited number of situations, you may be prompted for MFA on campus. Plan to keep your device on hand to access your account.

    If you are prompted for MFA but do not have your device, call Student Technology Help at 608.243.4444 during library open hours or stop by your campus library.

    Changing Your MFA Methods

    Log into aka.ms/proofup using your Madison College email address and password in order to:

    • Update your phone number
    • Delete or add a new authentication method
    • Change your default authentication method

    Note: To update your own methods, you will need access to an existing method. If you do not have access to a method, you must call us at 608.243.4444 for assistance.

    Minimum Technical Requirements

    Ensuring you have the proper equipment is critical to your success as a student.

    Please visit the library's Minimum and Recommended Technical Requirements page to determine if your personal equipment will be sufficient.

    The minimums in this document are meant as a baseline for all students. Some degree programs may have requirements that exceed what is identified. Such information may be communicated to students through program orientations or other communication methods. You can also contact your program office to ask about specific requirements.

    If you find that your personal equipment will not be sufficient, request a laptop through the Technology Access Program, for use while you are a current student.

    Virtual Desktop Help

    The virtual desktop gives you access to a cloud computer, either on or off campus, from your device or ours.

    This may give you access to course-specific software and offer a more full-featured environment to work in.

    To get started with a Virtual Desktop, choose your operating system on the tabs on the library’s virtual desktop help page and follow the directions.

  • Software

    Microsoft Office 365

    Current students, faculty and staff get Microsoft Office 365 for free.

    Please view download and installation instructions.

    Adobe Creative Cloud

    Currently enrolled students in a class that requires Adobe CC will be able to install it on one work and one personal computer.

    Enter your Madison College email address at adobe.com to complete logging in on the Madison College login page. Proceed to install the specific software required.

    If you have a college-loaned laptop, one of the two installations you receive can be completed through the Company Portal. Students entitled to Adobe CC can also use the software through the virtual desktop.

    If you are a current Madison College student and believe you should have access to Adobe CC but do not, please contact us and let us know which class you are in that requires it.

    Adobe also offers Creative Cloud at a discounted rate for students, if you prefer to purchase your own subscription.

    Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

    This software offered by Adobe allows the usage and editing of PDFs.

    To edit PDFs from off campus, log in to your virtual desktop to access Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

    Other retailers may have educational discounts available. You may be asked to show your student ID (OneCard) or supply a valid college email address.

  • Videoconferencing

    Your instructors can choose between a few videoconferencing options at the College.
