Summer Financial Aid

Requesting financial aid for a Summer semester at Madison College is a little different from the rest of the financial aid processes. Because we cannot assume that students are going to be attending the Summer semester, you must provide some additional items if you would like to be considered for summer financial aid.

How to Request Financial Aid For the Summer

Summer financial aid eligibility is based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2016-2017 academic year. To receive aid for the summer semester, you must have your 2016-2017 FAFSA completed by June 15, 2017.  You may request summer financial aid if you are:

  1. Register for Summer Classes

    You must be registered for summer classes prior to requesting financial aid. Most types of aid require at least six eligible degree credits. You must be registered by the Pell Recalculation Date for the summer semester for courses to be considered for aid.

  2. Submit a Request Form

    Once registered, complete the Summer Financial Aid Request Form (PDF, 785 KB) and submit it to the Financial Aid Office for review.

  3. Review Your Communication

    The Financial Aid Office will start evaluating summer financial aid awards in May. You will receive a notification once your summer financial aid eligibility has been determined. Please note that when evaluating your summer eligibility, the aid you received for the fall and spring semester must be taken into consideration.

If you decide that you will not be attending the Summer semester for any reason, you must drop your class(es) prior to the start date to receive a full refund in accordance with the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Refund Policy. Note that if you are registered in classes, it is your responsibility to pay for all education-related expenses regardless of financial aid eligibility.
