Tobacco-Free Campus
Madison College is 100% tobacco-free in an effort to create a safe and healthy environment for employees, students and the public. Smoking and vaping and the use of tobacco or tobacco products by anyone on college property is prohibited. Violators may receive a violation warning or a fine.
The following resources are available for those who are interested in quitting:
- Call the Quit Line at 800-QUIT-NOW (608-784-8669) or chat online with a quit coach. This is free to Wisconsin residents and offers medication, coaching, referrals, and support.
- Students may contact Student Health Education at 608-246-6651 or studentwellness@madisoncollege.edu to discuss options for quitting.
If you see anyone smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco on campus, please contact Public Safety Services at (608) 245-2222.
Definitions
Smoking
The act of lighting, inhaling or exhaling, burning, or carrying a cigarette, cigar, electronic or non-electronic smoking device, pipe, hookah, or other product or substance; or, any other smoking of tobacco, nicotine, plant or substance, whether natural or synthetic, in any manner or in any form.
Vaping
Vaping refers to the use of electronic nicotine delivery systems or electronic smoking devices such as e-cigarettes, e-pipes, e-hookahs, and e-cigars.
Tobacco
Any product that contains tobacco or nicotine that is intended or expected to be introduced into the body, including any cigarette, cigar, pipe, electronic or non-electronic tobacco product, or any other smoked or smokeless tobacco product.
Tobacco Free
Tobacco free means that smoking of tobacco, nicotine, or tobacco-like product, plant or substance, whether natural or synthetic, in any manner or in any form is prohibited.
Madison College Property
College property includes, without limitation, college owned or leased space and college-owned vehicles regardless of whether or not they are on college property.
