Celebrate a Nurse 5K raises $12K for student scholarships
More than $12,000 was raised for nursing student scholarships at Madison College Reedsburg’s Celebrate a Nurse 5K on May 1, helping reduce financial barriers for students entering a high-demand health care field.
The event drew 215 runners and walkers to a scenic course around the Reedsburg campus, with mascot Wolfie greeting participants at the finish line. Students, alumni and health care partners gathered afterward for awards and post-race festivities. Full results can be found at https://runsignup.com/Race/Results/Overview/158889
Now in its fifth year, the event has raised more than $60,000 to help offset tuition and clinical costs for nursing students, reducing financial barriers to entering the workforce.
Last year’s scholarship recipient Angela Colvin said the support made a lasting impact: “Receiving this scholarship inspires me to work even harder and to one day give back to the people and families of our local communities with the same compassion and dedication that Madison College has shown to me.”
Madison College President Dr. Jennifer Berne, who participated in the event for the first time, said the turnout reflects strong commitment to future nurses.
“It was inspiring to see our students, alumni and community come together in support of the next generation of nurses,” Berne said. “Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and supported this event. I look forward to seeing you at next year’s starting line.”
