The Power of Supporting Mental Wellness

Student success is at the heart of what we strive for at Madison College and your odds of success are much higher if your physical and mental health needs are taken care of.

Sometimes that means just being able to talk to somebody who can listen and support you. That’s where our counselors come in.

All you have to do is ask for the support you need.

Counseling Services

Trained counselors can help in a crisis or if you just need a little support, be it emotionally, academically or with conflict management.

Appointments are free to students and held virtually or in-person. The counselors are bound by confidentiality - that means they won’t talk to anybody about your conversation unless they determine that you or somebody else is at risk.

To schedule an appointment with a counselor:

  • Self-schedule using our Navigate app
  • Need a quick mental health check-in? Call 608.246.6060

In-Person & Virtual Service Hours

  • Monday – Thursday: 8 am - 4:30 pm
  • Friday: 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

After hours, reach out to one of the following:

  • Journey Crisis Line - 608.280.2600
  • National Suicide Prevention Hotline – 1.800.273.TALK (8255)
  • Crisis Text Line - text 'home' to 741741

Drug & Alcohol Abuse Services

Facing a drug or alcohol problem or dependency on your own makes a challenging situation even harder.

Madison College offers a counselor specializing in alcohol or drug abuse (AODA) to help students work though concerns or a dependency. Working with the AODA counselor is free, can be done anonymously and kept confidential.

To connect with an AODA specialist, email John Boyne in the Counseling and College Success Department at jboyne@madisoncollege.edu or call 608.616.3418.

The college also has a student club that promotes well-being and peer support for students in recovery. Information on the Live Free group can be found on the WolfPack Connect app.

Self Assessments

The Counseling and College Success team at Madison College has compiled a wealth of resources to help students assess their own mental wellness and find support, tips and programs for further help.

We encourage all students to spend time with these tools in an effort to support their own mental wellness as well as that of friends, fellow students and loved ones.
