Hiebing scholarship hopes to increase racial diversity in workforce

As a way to help increase racial diversity within its workforce, the Hiebing marketing agency is setting up a $40,000 endowed scholarship at Madison College. The scholarship will help students seeking degrees in graphic design, visual storytelling and web/digital media design.

In a news release posted on WisBusiness, Hiebing officials said they hope by supporting underserved students on their higher education journey, it will lead to fundamental change in the professional makeup of their agency and Madison’s professional community as a whole.

“The Black Lives Matter movement showed that it’s not enough for businesses like ours to be a welcoming environment for people of color,” said Dave Florin, CEO of Hiebing. “As the largest agency in Madison, we need to attract Black talent to our city and provide them paths to success within our organization."
