Madison College and FVTC sign transfer agreement

Madison College and Fox Valley Technical College signed an agreement today that will allow FVTC students to earn an associate in arts (AA) or an associate in science (AS) degree, with the credits transferring to a four-year university where students can then complete their bachelor’s degree.

The Collegiate Transfer Associate Degree is a 60-credit program that gives students flexibility to choose courses that will maximize transferability in several pre-major disciplines, such as Arts and Humanities, Engineering, Education, Math and Science and Technology.

General education courses like English, math, science and fine art will be offered in-person and online at Fox Valley Tech and online at Madison College. Once an associate degree is earned, students can transfer to several private colleges or within the University of Wisconsin system, including UW-Madison, to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Taking classes through the Collegiate Transfer program will save FVTC students up to 30 percent over the cost of a four-year university in Wisconsin. Plus, students who enroll in the program are eligible for financial aid.

“I am proud of the partnership Madison College and Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) created that has resulted in the sharing of our Liberal Arts Transfer Program that leads to AA and AS degrees,” said Madison College President Jack E. Daniels, III. “The work done by faculty and staff at both FVTC and Madison College to create this partnership is reflective of the commitment to meet student needs and further students’ success on their career pathway.” 

“College can be expensive, and we all want to make sure we are using our resources wisely,” said FVTC Dean of General Students, Dr. Jennifer Lanter. “This partnership provides students in the FVTC District something we haven’t had at before: the opportunity to complete general education coursework in a program that is financial aid eligible.”

The new partnership is being offered to FVTC students starting with the fall 2021 semester.
