Madison College celebrates 50 years of Hmong in the US on May 14

Published:

Join us at Madison College on May 14 to celebrate 50 years of resilience, contributions, and the rich cultural heritage of the Hmong American community.

Historically, May 14 commemorates the Hmong people's journey to the United States following the Vietnam War, their role as allies during the Secret War, and their significant impact on American society.

This event will feature engaging discussions, cultural traditions, and an opportunity to honor the legacy of Hmong Americans in shaping history and the future.

Meet Hmong community members and Madison College Hmong students who are making a powerful impact in their community. Attendees will have the chance to participate in making laab, a vibrant dish filled with spices, herbs, and vegetables. Hmong students will also share experiences from a recent immersion trip to Minnesota.

Madison College's Division of College, Culture, and Climate and United Common Ground Student Organization is proud to host this event and reaffirm the college's commitment to fostering cultural understanding and inclusivity.

The Hmong American Day at Madison College is a must-attend event! It is free and open to the public, welcoming individuals of all backgrounds to join the celebration.  Register for Hmong American Day.
