Madison College Fort Atkinson Crowns Champs of Metal Mania Competition

Published:

Metal Mania was a success with around 300 hundred people joining in on the fun at the May 18 event at Madison College Fort Atkinson.

The competition theme was Wisconsin Farms, with awe-inspiring sculptures from talented competitors from local high schools, Madison College and community members.

With six teams competing in the Welding Fabrication Art Sculpture contest, the high school teams dominated: 1st place went to the Fort Atkinson High School Blackhawks. The Blackhawk team used the “Wisconsin Farms” theme to create a picturesque farm masterpiece. The sculpture featured rustic-looking farm equipment, including a combine, surrounded by glistening stalks of corn. Their team had two welders, along with two artists, to back up the creativity of the creation.

The 4 Amigos, classmates of this year’s Madison College Fort Atkinson Metal Fabrication program, took second place with their combined sculpture. Marshall High School took 3rd with a highland cow sculpture.

In addition to the competition, attendees will have the opportunity to witness laser, welding, and blacksmith demos throughout the day. There will be something for everyone to enjoy, including meeting Wolfie, engaging in games for all ages, and savoring delicious food.

The event was a success, with staff, volunteers, and sponsors, including FMA and Alter Recycling, Badger Basement, IPEC, Miller, and Sherman Williams. With donations from the community and Alter Recycling, Madison College-Fort Atkinson raised over $1,000 for the Metal Fabrication scholarship program.
