Madison College is one of the nation's top institutions for sending scholars abroad through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. The scholarship expands access and equity in study abroad and international internship opportunities among undergraduate students with high financial need.

“In recognizing the top institutions with students studying abroad as Gilman Scholars, the United States continues to prioritize its commitment to provide access and equity to international experiences for all Americans,” said Lee Satterfield, assistant secretary of state for Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Madison College received the Top Producer recognition from the Gilman Scholarship Program.

"Community college students historically make up only two percent of all study abroad students, so we are proud of those who have received the Gilman Scholarship," said Tammy Gibbs, international education manager at Madison College. "As we restart study abroad at this point in the pandemic, we look forward to helping current students apply for the scholarship and are excited to help them study abroad."

Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than 35,000 Gilman Scholars have studied or interned in more than 155 countries around the world.
