A healthy smile can make a difference in someone’s life, but the cost of dental care can put it out of reach. Madison College is helping local veterans get the care they need through its Give Veterans a Smile event on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Madison College Dental Clinic, Truax Campus.
Services are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to the first 50 veterans. Participants will receive a dental examination and X-rays at no cost. Veterans are encouraged to arrive early; sign-up begins at 9 a.m.
Veterans will also have the opportunity to schedule free dental cleanings with Dental Hygiene students at the Madison College Dental Clinic at a later date. Depending on the severity of their dental needs and the complexity of treatment required, restorative dental care may also be scheduled for a future visit and provided at no cost by volunteer local dentists working with Dental Assistant Program students. Services will be performed at the state-of-the-art Madison College Dental Clinic on the Truax Campus. The clinic provides dental hygiene services to the community for a nominal fee.
Many veterans face barriers to dental care because of limited insurance coverage or high out-of-pocket costs. Give Veterans a Smile helps address these challenges by connecting veterans with essential oral health services at no cost.
“The Give Veterans a Smile event reflects Madison College’s commitment to serving the community and improving access to essential oral healthcare,” said Dr. Adina Ness, Madison College Dental Clinic Director.
