Metal Mania highlights skilled trades and health care, Oct. 9

Madison College’s Fort Atkinson campus will host Metal Mania on Thursday, Oct. 9. This year’s theme, Ignite Your Potential: Stronger Welds, Stronger Health Care, celebrates the connection between skilled trades and health care.

The event highlights a Metal Fabrication and Welding competition with teams of high school students, Madison College students, and community members from across Southeastern Wisconsin. The winning team will take home a $1,000 cash prize.

New this year is the opportunity to bid on the competition sculptures in a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit students in Madison College’s Metal Fabrication and Welding program at the Fort Atkinson campus.

Attendees can enjoy:
•    Live demonstrations of laser cutting, welding, and blacksmithing
•    Family-friendly activities, including games and a meet-and-greet with Madison College’s mascot, Wolfie
•    Campus tours and a free lunch
•    Healthcare-themed exhibits, featuring emergency response vehicles—including an ambulance and a UW Health MedFlight helicopter
•    Meet-and-greet opportunities with nursing program faculty and students
•    Tours of Madison College Fort Atkinson state-of-the-art facilities

This year’s Metal Mania showcases two in-demand career path opportunities at the Fort Atkinson campus:
•    Metal Fabrication with Welding Bolt-on Program
•    Practical Nursing and Nursing Assistant Programs

Both programs can be completed in just one year, exclusively at the Fort Atkinson campus.
Metal Mania is free and open to the public. Schools, students, and community members are encouraged to attend and experience firsthand the exciting possibilities in welding, fabrication, and health care.
