Madison College Navigators connect K-12 students with their potential by helping them earn college credits, learn new skills, and expand their higher education horizons.

The Navigator team’s motto is “We can do that” as they develop dynamic relationships with 64 high schools in 41 school districts in southcentral Wisconsin, offering resources to students, parents, and counselors.
"Filling out a college application is just one step," says Torvic Caradine, Madison College Access Manager and Navigators Leader.
“Going to college for the first time can be scary,” Caradine says. “The unknown frightens prospective students most: Will I get in? How do I apply? When prospective students seek our help, we guide them through the process and keep them engaged. It’s essential to keep them progressing toward the next steps.

Navigators are known as the “mobile Madison College,” going out to meet with students in Madison, city suburbs, and rural communities.
In one-on-one sessions with Navigators high school students learn about earning college credit in their local classrooms. Other students participate in Start College Now or Early College Academies, designed to prepare them for the challenges of higher education. “Students who take college credits in high school do better when they are in college because they know they can do the work,” Caradine says.
At Accepted Days events, the Navigator team supports students at every step, from placement testing to account creation, advising, financial aid, enrollment, and more—essentially, guiding them from beginning to end.

Last year, nearly 800 students received assistance from the Navigators and Madison College teams. “Accepted Student Days have been fantastic and extremely helpful for our students, and we have received great feedback from them!” praised one high school counselor.
The Navigators mobile Madison College program is successful, with 60% of Fall 2024 graduates from high schools in the Madison College District enrolling immediately after graduation and 40% of the incoming Fall 2024 class doing the same.
