Madison College alum Angie (Bleck) Hoefs was a fierce competitor on the volleyball court, earning all-conference in 1999/2000, with a college athletic record of 334 kills. Angie will be inducted into the Madison College Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 9 during the 2025 Alumni Weekend.

How did your Madison College volleyball player experience shape your life?
It was fun and challenging. I grew as a person and learned valuable leadership skills. I made some lasting friendships.

You're being inducted into the Madison College Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 9. What does that honor mean to you?
It is an honor and nerve-racking at the same time. I am not someone who enjoys being in the spotlight.

You led Madison College to the WTCC Championship and were a two-time all-conference, all-state, and all-region athlete.
What were your proudest moments during your volleyball career?
Working hard, making friendships, and getting some records.

What's going on in your life now? I'm married with kids and live in Sparta, and I teach kindergarten. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my kids, swimming or reading.

What advice would you give to young athletes aspiring to pursue sports at a competitive level?
Grit, determination, and love for your sport. Put in the time and listen to coaches.
