Fabiola Hamdan has been appointed as the newest member of the Madison College District Board.
Hamdan, a Madison College alumna, brings more than 25 years of experience in human services, leadership, and advocacy for children, families and immigrant communities.
She is currently a human services manager with Dane County, where she became the first Immigration Affairs Supervisor.
As a recognized community leader, Hamdan has served on Gov. Tony Evers' State Council on Affirmative Action, the Latino Consortium for Action, and other committees. Hamdan has received numerous honors for her leadership and community service, including the YWCA Women of Distinction Award, the National Association of Social Workers Distinguished Service Award and the 2020 United Way Women United Philanthropy Award.
“Fabiola’s commitment to listening, advocating and creating opportunities for children and families will be a tremendous asset to the Board," said Madison College District Board Chair Shiva Bidar-Sielaff. "Her leadership and knowledge of the communities we serve will be key as we continue our mission to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed."
Hamdan earned her associate degree at Madison College and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She lives in Madison.
Hamdan succeeds Shana Lewis on the district board and will serve until June 2029.
Korbey White and Christopher Canty were reappointed to new terms ending in June 2029.
The Madison College District Board provides governance and oversight for the college, including setting policy and ensuring the institution fulfills its mission.
