When he was a teen, Jason Boatright told the Capital Times he used to give haircuts to his eight younger brothers. Three years after the Madison College cosmetology graduate opened B. Right Barbershop in Sun Prairie, his brothers still joke about the debt he owes them from all those rough cuts early on.
What started as a one-man operation now has a receptionist and two additional barbers. Boatright told the newspaper he got into the business in part to be a regular presence in the lives of young people.
And one day, he hopes to create what he believes would be the first Black barbershop franchise in the country.
