Madison College receives First-gen Forward Designation
Madison College has been designated as a 2020-21 First-gen Forward Institution by the Center for First-generation Student Success. The center is an initiative of NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and The Suder Foundation.
Since 2017, the college has celebrated First-Generation Student Day. More than 6,000 students are invited to this annual event. The “I’m First” student club, an annual scholarship, special programming and additional services also support first-generation college students.
“The 2020-21 First-gen Forward cohort demonstrates a national movement of two- and four-year institutions dedicated to advancing the success of first-generation students; redefining student success as a movement. We commend Madison College for their already strong contribution,” said Dr. Kevin Kruger, president and CEO of NASPA.
Madison College’s first-generation efforts are a part of the Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement (RISE) program.
