Rio High School student wins Madison College Pitch with agricultural innovation idea
William Homman of Rio High School earned first place at the 2026 Madison College Pitch for Agrogear, an innovative business idea designed to support the agricultural industry. The competition showcased high school students’ creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.
Homman’s device, “The Badger,” a soil sample device, saves farmers time and money.
This year’s 18 participants impressed judges with their creativity, preparation and willingness to step outside their comfort zones. The event allowed students to share ideas, develop professional skills and engage with the business community while exploring future educational and career pathways. The competition narrowed down to 14 business pitches from more than 50 entries.
