Veterans honored with free dental care at Madison College clinic

Veterans from across the community received free dental care during Madison College’s “Give Veterans a Smile” event on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the college’s Dental Clinic on the Truax Campus.

The event, a partnership between Madison College and the Greater Dane Dental Society (GDDS), honored local service personnel by providing essential dental exams, X-rays, and professional cleanings from Madison College dental hygiene students under the supervision of faculty and volunteer dentists from GDDS.

More than 25 veterans were served during the event, supported by five volunteer dentists who donated their time and expertise.

The Oct. 18 event gave 25 veterans a reason to smile with free dental care.

For veterans whose care required more complex treatment, follow-up appointments were scheduled during regular clinic hours to ensure their dental hygiene care could be completed.

Local GDDS dentists also volunteered to provide additional referral procedures at no charge.

“It was a truly meaningful day to serve and honor our veterans,” said Dr. Adina Ness, Madison College’s Dental Hygiene Program/Clinic Director. “This collaboration not only supports our local veterans but also provides invaluable, hands-on experience for our students. We are grateful for the support from the Greater Dane Dental Society for making this effort possible."

The event highlighted the college’s nationally ranked dental hygiene program and the advanced technology available at its state-of-the-art dental clinic, in the Health Education Building at the Truax Campus.

The “Give Veterans a Smile” initiative is part of Madison College’s ongoing commitment to serving the community through accessible, compassionate care.
