Art Exhibit kicks off Black History Month in a big way

More than 200 people were on hand for the recent opening reception of Madison College's new "Honoring the Black Woman" art exhibit at the Truax Gallery (1701 Wright St.)

When longtime academic advisor Dzigbodi Akyea died last fall, her friends in the Black Women's Affinity Group wanted to honor her in a special way. So they decided to fulfill one of her dreams - an exhibit dedicated to black women. The gallery includes work from more than 15 artists and photographers from Madison to Africa.
